Surtex takes place in just a few days, from May 15th-17th, and we are having so much fun this week previewing the work of some of the exhibitors! Today we are delighted to share these playful designs by Tanya Paget a.k.a. Albaquirky. Here’s a bit about Tanya’s work in her own words:

“I design under the name ‘Albaquirky’, the ‘Alba’ part of the name links to my nationality as a Scot, the ‘quirky’ part sums up my design style well! I describe the Albaquirky brand as ‘pattern for individuals’. Design for people who enjoy pattern and want something a little different in their lives. I have 20 years experience in the creative industries as an artist, designer and educator. Recently working in interiors and apparel and historically having worked with a broad list of clients from MTV to Sony.

I take my inspiration from the world around me, and am lucky to live quite a diverse life. I’m based in beautiful English countryside just outside of London and there is a little of both those urban and rural worlds in my creative approach. I spend time each year in Scotland, seeking out the remote and isolated corners and lots of inspiration comes from these trips. I’m currently planning a trip to Iceland, and I am and really exited about what the land of fire and ice will give me as inspiration!

I am very proud to be exhibiting with the Finch & Foxglove collective this May at Surtex booth 543 in a few days time. We are an international collective of 8 surface designers, please visit our website to find out a little more. I have also exhibited recently for the first time in Paris at the February Premier Vision, represented by Collect Scotland studio and will be back in September to show with them again.”
