Madewell Fall ’12

Hello there! I hope that everyone in the USA had a lovely long weekend! To kick off this short week, I am pleased to have Jules Fuller here to share some must-have print items for fall. After oohing and awing over her finds, please check out her inspiring blog Lawn Party. While there, notice how designers are using prints, even in subtle ways. As print designers we often think prints should be the star of the show, but in reality they should be used to support the vision of the collection and speak to the end-use consumer’s style.

I encourage you to think outside of your “print bubble” this week. Take the time to think about how the end-use consumer will use your prints. Will your print be used as a pant lining or as a statement jacket? Will it be used as an accent to solids or textures, or the star of the show? -Michelle

I am always a fan of Madewell and how they mix the girly style with the perfect boyish charm. However, the fall look book caught my eye because of the smart mixing of patterns. Floral and stripes, paisley and stripes, and my fave stripes and stripes. Plus I am loving a pencil skirt for fall.” – Jules
