“I grew up in Detroit, Michigan and went to college at Bowling Green State University in Ohio for Visual Communication Technology.  I worked as a Freelance Graphic Designer for a few years but I didn’t find the work to be very fulfilling.  I currently live in Ypsilanti Michigan and in 2014 I found my passion for Surface Pattern Design, so I am very new to this world and I am still learning everyday but I love love love it!  I took a course with ABSPD and thats really the only training I have in the area of surface pattern design. Since the course and diving into things I have received my first licensing contract with Shibumi Home for a line of homeware products: http://shibumihome.com/collections/sareka-unique.  My style has been described as feminine, bold and modern with a tribal flare!  I’m very excited to where this path will take me! I recently launched my own line of greeting cards and notebooks and I am open to discuss licensing and freelance opportunities.”

Check out more of Sareka’s work at www.sarekaunique.com and her new web shop filled with playful greeting cards and patterned sketchbooks (my favorite are the sets of three mini sketchbooks, for just $10!!) You can also find Sareka on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Have a great weekend! -Chelsea
