Leigh Jacobs is a textile designer who left her corporate job this past winter to begin a freelance career. She studied textile design at North Carolina State University, graduating in 2008, and prior to that earned an MFA at Pratt Institute.

“I just started freelancing in January after working at Dillard’s (a retail chain) based in Little Rock, Arkansas, for 6 years. I was doing men’s brands there, and I wanted more freedom of subject matter and my schedule!”

Leigh’s vibrant, whimsical style just screams “summer,” don’t you think? It’s certainly put us in the right mood for the last day of June with a long weekend on the horizon 🙂

You can see more of Leigh’s colorful patterns at www.leighjacobsart.com, on Instagram @leigh_jacobs_art, or on her Society6 page: www.society6.com/leighjacobs. Have a great weekend everyone, and to those of you in the US, a very happy July 4th!
  1. Always love a story that starts with “She left her corporate job and began freelancing…”! Great work Leigh, from a fellow Leigh 🙂 Thanks for the story, very inspiring work as well!

  2. I second the comment about “love a story that begins with left her corporate job”. Great job Leigh! I just left my corporate job and don’t have strong skills on the Adobe/technical side but determined to make it. Scary!
