Humerya’s extensive experience with textile design started in 1998 when she received a Bachelor’s degree in Non-Food Product Design and began her career as a clothing designer. At this time, technology was rapidly developing and she started to learn the necessary software and tools needed for digital design. Humerya had been pursuing her artistic practice from childhood and was ready to take on even more creative jobs.
Over the years, she worked in various design fields from fashion design to book illustration and even clothing modeling. She eventually found her niche in textile design. She is originally from Azerbaijan, famous for its unique patterned carpets. Humerya says “Creating patterns feels like it is in my blood.” Her love for traditional motifs blends with a passion for synthesis, which combines classic elements with modern design, both in interiors and fashion. For the past 7-8 years, she led the design department at a textile factory, specializing in home decor. During this time, she attended international exhibitions like Heimtextil in Frankfurt, where she studied new trends and created collections in various styles based on client requirements.
Now, she no longer works at the factory but continues to provide textile design services to clients worldwide. She has many new fabric print-ready designs in her portfolio. This year, she decided to further her education and enrolled in a Master’s program and was offered a position to teach design at the Azerbaijan State Economic University. In a year and a half, she will receive her Master’s degree and will be able to teach future designers, sharing her knowledge and practical experience. She is open to collaborating with textile companies worldwide and feels confident she can bring new ideas and solutions to the industry. Connect with Humerya on LinkedIn or Behance.
