Featured Designer: Rio Wrenn

These heavenly textiles were created by the Portland, Oregon based textile designer, Rio Wrenn. Rio works exclusively with natural dyes and rust, developing patterns through shibori, rust printing, silkscreen, composting, and katazome techniques.

With her roots in fine art, Rio has shown in various galleries across the country and launched her lingerie and loungewear line, R.A.W. in 2007. The patterns and textures that she develops are absolutely stunning, but I also love and appreciate how each pattern is perfectly placed on the garment. As pattern designers, we do not always have control over the use and placement of our work, but by looking to designers like Rio, we can gain insight for when the time arises!
