Erin Fox of Tearful Titmouse

Erin Fox is a budding surface pattern designer. Tearful Titmouse is the embodiment and vehicle for her passion and greatest desires. As a former educator/stay-at-home mom/pandemic homeschool teacher, this dream that she didn’t know she had until late, of adding color and beauty to the everyday world is REAL. As a feeler of all the feels, a melancholy optimist, and an outgoing introvert, she experiences the world internally. Tears leak out of her freely and unapologetically as joy, sadness, and beauty work their way through her. She finds that beauty lies in the organic, wild, and messiness of life. As an artist, she is in constant awe of creation. Seeing her art come alive on fabric, wallpaper, home decor, and paper goods is PURE (tear-worthy) JOY.

Tearful Titmouse’s biggest inspirations are profoundly simple. The art that makes her think, “How can something SO simple be so beautiful and moving?” TearfulTitmouse also largely draws inspiration from her sister who passed away two years ago while backpacking the Pacific Crest Trail in extreme heat. She carries her sister with her daily and brings her into the art through butterflies and her sister’s artful eye for beauty.

Finally, as a woman in her 40s, Erin finds that life gets better and better with age. She is constantly un-taming herself. Questioning everything and tearing down the constructs that culture has made FOR her that do not serve her. Erin’s concept of color is an example of this. She feels culture has indiscreetly taught her to be brave and bold, but not too much! Stand out, but not too much! Her life has been lived in muted tones and she is ready to put the color out there that she likes to SEE in the world. She is not afraid to stand out anymore!
