Designer Feature: Savanna Rawson

This surface design portfolio is quirky, cool, and whimsical. With a hand-rendered feel, these digital designs are filled with character, detail, and a feminine touch. Say hello to Savanna Rawson, who lives in the Surrey Hills of England. Like many, she is inspired by nature’s beauty and takes walks to brainstorm. When not scribbling away on the iPad, she enjoys using ink pens, watercolor, or gouache paints.

Savanna obtained a master’s degree in Graphic Design and began her career at a publishing house as a magazine art director. One of her accounts was Liberty of London and she caught a glimpse of the magic of pattern design and has been obsessed ever since. In the 2020 pandemic, Savanna honed her surface pattern design skills without the noisy pressures of the rat race and developed as an artist.

Today she combines the discipline of being a designer with the playfulness of art-making to create various collections suitable for fabrics and products. Although it’s a digital world these days, each one of Savanna’s ideas starts with a 2B pencil sketch.  Now with three collections out in the world, she plans to continue growing the licensing arm of her business and further develop her products. This mom-of-two is happy she gets to do things she loves most- be with her girls and make beautiful art.

You can purchase her designs through her Etsy shop. Contact Savanna to hire her for commissions, licensing, freelance, or collaborations. Savanna’s services include visual brand design, art direction, surface pattern design, illustration, and marketing + web design.
