Designer Feature: Sunny Spanish Energy from Raquel Martínez

Raquel Martínez was born in southern Spain and has always been drawn to creativity and human connection. Her background in social education has given her a deep sensitivity and empathy, which she strives to reflect in both her designs and her creative approach. She studied graphic design and worked as a 2D animator before opening a crochet shop in Manchester, England, driven by her love for craftsmanship. Eventually, she found her true passion in the textile world, where she has been working for nearly nine years, combining artistry, storytelling, and design.

Raquel designed this yoga collection for her teacher, who practices in Seville, Spain. The earthy tones used evoke a deep connection with our essence and energy, which are important aspects of practicing yoga.

Raquel is also drawn to vibrant colors and fluid brushstrokes. She loves to paint with watercolors. Living in the southern part of Spain provides incredible sunshine and bright days, which fuel her desire to create collections that capture the refreshing feeling of the sea breeze. Some of her designs also feature classic Spanish phrases that mothers often say at the beach, adding a fun and playful touch.

Her dream is to have her own textile design brand, where she can freely develop art for prints, sell them, and create unique collections. She would love to focus on the children’s market as well, as she has a natural talent for creating fun and playful concepts for kids. Building a brand that brings joy, color, and storytelling to textiles is her ultimate goal, and she is excited about the journey ahead! You can find her portfolio on Behance.
