Alison Stanbury is the creative force behind Naughty Hedgehog Designs a site where you can purchase felted fiber work, license surface pattern designs for projects, and find helpful resources for online arts-based educators. Alison is currently based in Romania, but grew up in the United Kingdom and focused her studies on education, she has a Masters degree in Development Management. After college Alison worked overseas teaching English in Hungary, Romania, and Italy. In college, she developed a passion for understanding the ‘student voice’ and how to use it to improve curriculum delivery and deliver course enhancements. She recently created twelve downloadable PDFs that support online arts educators. Even if you are beginning your online education work and have a newsletter, there is something there for you. If you are experienced and worked on courses for years, try out the quality assurance, enhancement, and research resources.
Her approach teaches educators how to be reflective practitioners to ensure online arts-based education with one goal: to enhance the student, member, or newsletter subscriber’s experience.
In addition to loving education, Allison has been a lifelong collector of photographs – snapshots of everyday objects seen on walks – she had thousands of photos on her computer. Still, she did not have a creative outlet for them until 2023 when she started learning to use Adobe Illustrator to design patterns. Alison’s style is playful and bold, she loves to work with strong colors. The results are designs that work well scaled up on wallpaper but also scaled down for fabric and homeware. Alison has a shop on Spoonflower selling her designs on fabric, wallpaper, and homeware.
