Inspiration as an “it”

I am obsessed with the show Radiolab and their latest episode, Help, touches on one of my favorite topics: creativity. The entire show is wonderful, but my favorite chapter consists of an interview with Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of Eat, Pray, Love. She discusses the concept of thinking about inspiration as an “it.” Something that you acknowledge, respect, bully, and occasionally sweet talk into blessing you with gifts of creativity. I cannot recreate the magic of the piece so please check it out here. Listen to the entire episode if you can, but this specific chapter starts around minute 27:40. I can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks!!!

At Pattern Observer we strive to help you grow your textile design business through our informative articles, interviews, tutorials, workshops and our private design community, The Textile Design Lab.
