Discover (or rediscover) your artistic style
Designing without the direction of a client, art director, or agent is liberating, but it can also lead to feeling overwhelmed and unproductive. Imagine feeling confident in who you are as an artist and what you should be creating.
Learn how to incorporate new ideas into your work in an authentic way
While it's essential to be in touch with our artistic style, it's equally important to introduce new ideas and influences into our work. Imagine knowing how to bring a fresh look to your work season after season, keeping buyers engaged and wanting more.
Become your best Art Director
We are often our best guide, teacher, and art director. Accepting this on the surface is easy; however, tapping into this ability is not. Imagine bringing a sense of focus to your artistic process by knowing what to design each season and where your work fits in within this vast industry.
What if you could create collections that exemplify your style and resonate with buyers?
The Sellable Sketch
January 10, 2022
When I left my corporate job to launch a freelance business, I was thrilled. I set my office up, registered my company, and then sat down to design. Whoa! I felt lost! For years I had been told what to design, and I knew the style of prints I was expected to create, but when left on my own, I was overwhelmed and unproductive. If my business was going to survive, I knew I needed a change. This was when I developed a system to take the guesswork out of what to design each season.
In the Sellable Sketch, I’m sharing the system I used to bring momentum to my business and work myself out of this design rut. This process clarifies the collection development process, and designers leave feeling focused, confident, and motivated to get their work out into the marketplace.
I began sharing this system in 2012. Since then, hundreds of designers have been helped. As a result, they gained focus, confidence, and motivation to get their work out into the marketplace. I am now thrilled to share the course with the Textile Design Lab community.
