FAQ

What is the difference between the Textile Design Lab and Pattern Observer?

The Textile Design Lab is our members-only e-learning community which allows you to work through textile design courses at your own pace. Pattern Observer is our free blog.

Which courses are included in the Textile Design Lab?

We currently have the following courses included in Textile Design Lab membership: The Sellable Sketch, The Ultimate Guide to Repeats (UGTR), Photoshop for Designers 1, Photoshop for Designers 2, Surface Pattern Design Mastery, Art of Portfolio Curation, Summer of Creativity, Collaboration for Pattern Designers, The Graphic Designer’s Guide to Textile Design, Pattern Planning and Goal Setting, The Moneymaker Bootcamp, The Print Show Guide, How to Sell Your Artwork, Blogging for the Pattern Industry and Five Days to a Better Business. You can read more about the courses included in our membership community here.

How long is a subscription to the Textile Design Lab? How much does it cost?

We have two options for membership: a monthly membership and an annual membership:

For a monthly subscription, membership is $49/month.
For an annual subscription, membership is $490 for 12 months (you get two months free!)

I am new to Pattern Observer. Which course should I take first?

We recommend joining the Textile Design Lab community. You’ll join like-minded artists and designers in courses on everything from technical skills like patterns and repeats to the business know-how you need to market and sell your work. Courses like Surface Pattern Design Mastery and The Sellable Sketch will give you a solid foundation for our more advanced courses, such as Photoshop for Designers 1 and Photoshop For Designers 2.

How do I get featured on Pattern Observer?

To be considered for a feature, please submit 7-10 jpgs of your work for review. Here at Pattern Observer we strive to publish original content and therefore try to only post work which has not been covered by other major surface design blogs, so we appreciate you keeping that in mind when selecting images for your submission. Submissions can be sent here.

Do you accept guest posts on Pattern Observer? What are your requirements?

We are no longer accepting guest posts.
