This dreamy tropical collection is making me long for warmer days (instead I am hunkering down for a long Montana winter!) Insiyah Shahpurwalla is the Mumbai, India based textile designer behind these beautiful prints, and her vibrant color palette and tropical imagery conjures delightful daydreams of breezy palm trees and fresh, fragrant blossoms.
Insiyah studied textile design at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore and currently is “designing graphic artwork collections and printing fabric for a bunch of fashion designers, fabric stores and upholstery stores.”
Insiyah’s passion for textile design is unmistakable and I love her description of her process: “My eyes are always in constant need to spot patterns in every single frame and surrounding. This fixation gives me the urge to devise and create designs that will simply integrate itself into fabric. The charm of ink coalesced with fabric brings into existence a beautiful field of design that I am extremely proud to be a part of. Colour palettes, patterns, fabric swatches and inspiration heavy ideas form the basis of my design style. I draw most of my inspiration from photographs and deconstruct them to use as visual elements in designs. I mostly work on Adobe Illustrator to create a base and juxtapose these elements together on Adobe Photoshop to create patterns and repeats. The beauty of print design is that a single artwork can be interpreted in various forms and patterns, be it over-all’s or even placements, giving me the scope to explore and produce something new every time.”
