Monthly Vignette: June 2014

Last month we had the privilege of sharing the work of some truly talented designers–from the stunning hand-printed fabrics of Alizarin, run by mother/daughter team Heather & Polly Harvey, to the playful and quirky patterns of Bologna, Italy-based studio All The Fruits, our June schedule was packed with inspiring patterns!

We also focused on the world of freelance design in preparation for our Freelance Bootcamp (starting July 14th!) and shared informative interviews and tips on this topic. Michelle interviewed Amy Ng and Erin McMorris, longtime freelance designers who shared their experiences and gave advice for those considering this track. We also outlined the important considerations when deciding whether it’s time to quit your day job and break out on your own.

It was also our pleasure to share some special excerpts taken from longer posts from The Textile Design Lab–Sherry London took us step-by-step through the process of working with Spoonflower, and Andi Butler, our guest expert for June, gave an in-depth interview and free training on self-promotion.

We hope you enjoy this look back at last month’s features. To explore them further, simply scroll down and click back through previous pages of the blog, or use the search bar. We are excited about all that July has in store here at Pattern Observer and can’t wait to share with you! -Chelsea
